Butterfly pea is a climbing, herbaceous vine belonging to the genus Clitoria in the legume family. It is named for its large, blue flowers, which resemble butterflies, and is commonly used as an ornamental plant and as an ingredient in tea. Its flowers are rich in anthocyanins and possess antioxidant properties; however, they should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment.
