Do you know the matrine funciton in pesticide

Mar 09, 2021

The matrine, active ingredient in Ku Shen extract or Sophorae Flavescentis extract used in agriculture actually refers to all the substances extracted from Sophora flavescens, called Sophora flavescens extract or total alkaloids of flavescens.

Agricultural applications

In recent years, it has been widely used in agriculture and has good control effects. It is a low-toxic, low-residue, environmentally friendly pesticide. Mainly control all kinds of pine caterpillars, tea caterpillars, cabbage caterpillars and other pests. It has multiple functions such as insecticidal activity, bactericidal activity, and plant growth regulation function.

Characteristics of matrine as a biological pesticide

First of all, matrine is a plant-derived pesticide with specific and natural characteristics. It only affects specific organisms and can be quickly decomposed in nature. The final product is carbon dioxide and water.

Secondly, matrine is an endogenous plant chemical substance that is active against harmful organisms. The composition is not a single component, but a combination of multiple groups with similar chemical structures and multiple groups with dissimilar chemical structures, which complement each other and play a role together.

Thirdly, matrine can be used for a long time because of the joint action of a variety of chemical substances, making it difficult to cause resistance to harmful substances. Fourth, the corresponding pests will not be directly and completely poisoned, but the control of the population of pests will not seriously affect the production and reproduction of the plant population. This mechanism is very similar to the principle of pest control in the comprehensive prevention and control system that has been developed after decades of research after the side effects of chemical pesticide protection have become prominent.

To sum up the four points, it can be explained that matrine is obviously different from the general high-toxicity and high-residue chemical pesticides, and it is very green and environmentally friendly.

Application of matrine in agriculture

Matrine is extracted from the roots, stems, leaves and fruits of the Chinese herbal medicine Sophora flavescens by ethanol and other organic solvents. It is an alkaloid, generally the total alkaloids of matrine. The main ingredients are matrine, oxymatrine and sophora fruit. Alkali, oxysophocarpine, sophoridine, etc., with the highest content of matrine and oxymatrine. Matrine is a natural plant pesticide. Once the pests touch the drug, they will paralyze the nerve center, and then coagulate the body proteins, block the stomata of the pests, and suffocate the pests. This product is low-toxic to humans and animals and is a broad-spectrum insecticide. It has stomach poisoning and contact killing effect. In line with the direction of sustainable agricultural development, currently domestic matrine preparations include 0.3% matrine water, 0.8% matrine lactone water, 1% matrine solution, 1.1% matrine solution, 1.1% matrine Alkali powders, etc., these plant-derived agents have been used to control some pests of vegetables, fruit trees, tea, tobacco and other crops to achieve good control effects.

It has an ideal control effect on vegetable piercing and sucking mouthparts insect aphids, lepidopteran insects Pieris rapae, tea caterpillars, diamondback moths, as well as green tea leafhoppers and whitefly. In addition, it also has a good control effect on vegetable downy mildew, blight and anthracnose. It is worth paying attention to development.

Main pests to be controlled

1. Various forest leaf-eating pests such as pine caterpillars, poplar zhou'e, American Bai'e, etc. are sprayed evenly with 1000-1500 times solution of 1% matrine soluble liquid during the 2-3 instar larvae occurrence period.

2. The leaf-eating pests of fruit trees such as tea caterpillars, jujube butterflies, golden moths and other fruit tree leaf-eating pests shall be sprayed evenly with 800-1200 times solution of 1% matrine soluble liquid.

3. Pieris rapae: about 7 days after the peak of adult egg laying, when the larvae are at 2-3 instars, use pesticides for prevention and control. Use 500-700 ml of 0.3% matrine solution per mu and add 40-50 kg of water to spray. This product has a good effect on young larvae and poor sensitivity to 4-5 instar larvae.

Note: It is strictly forbidden to mix it with alkaline medicine. This product has poor quick-acting effect. It is necessary to do a good job in the prediction and forecast of the pest situation, and apply the pesticide to control it at the early stage of pests.
