Bacopa is the whole plant of Bacopamonnieri (L.) Wettst, a plant of the Scrophulariaceae family, and is also known as the white flower sow. Bacopa monnieri has been used in India to nourish the brain, improve memory and intelligence, such as anxiety, low cognition, and lack of concentration. It has a history of 3000 years. It is currently used to treat mental illness and epilepsy.
Their most important role is to improve cognition and memory function, as well as sedative, anti-anxiety, anti-convulsant, anti-epileptic and other biological activities.
Bacopaside consists of five compound, that isBacopasideⅠ、BacopasideⅡ, BacosideA3、BacopasaponinC and Bacopasaponin C isomer. The main chemical components of Bacopa oleracea to promote memory are Bacoside A and Bacoside B.

(1) Beneficial effects on learning and memory
Studies have shown that Bacopa monnieri and its extracts have brain-building effects. Bacopa and its ethanol extract can significantly improve the learning ability of rats, and the effect of promoting cognitive function is mainly derived from the two active saponins of Bacopa saponins A and B in the ethanol extract. The active ingredients can not only promote normal rat learning and memory function, but also inhibit amnesia (missing memory) caused by scopolamine, electric shock and restraint stress.
(2) Anti-anxiety effect
Bacopa monnieri extract is different from benzodiazepine anti-anxiety drugs. The former can improve cognitive function while producing anti-anxiety effects, while the latter has the side effects of causing dementia.
(3) Antidepressant effect
Standard Bacopa Monnieri Extract extract has a strong antidepressant effect on rodent depression models.
